Terms
We are using plain language on purpose so you can easily read and understand our intent and promise. We are still starting out and will update with deeper legal review when ready.
The short version: You must be an adult. Your words belong to you. The coach is a coach, not a therapist, doctor, lawyer, or financial advisor, and you stay the decision maker in your own life. Treat the product honestly and we will do the same.
What this is
Compass & Canvas is a guided experience for reflecting on your life and walking toward what matters, with the help of an AI coach that remembers what you share. By creating an account, you agree to these terms and to our Privacy page, which describes how your information is handled.
Coaching, not therapy
Your coach is an AI. It is designed to help you think, plan, and follow through. It is not a therapist, doctor, lawyer, or financial advisor, it does not diagnose or treat anything, and it is not a crisis service; nobody monitors your conversations in real time. If you are struggling, the product will always point you toward real human help, and we ask you to take that seriously.
The same is true beyond feelings. The coach does not give medical, legal, or financial advice: it will not interpret your symptoms, weigh in on your medications, pick your investments, or tell you what the law means for your situation. Your own goals in any part of your life are welcome here, and the coach will help you hold them, plan around them, and follow through.
And when you face a big decision, the coach can help you think it through, and it may tell you honestly what it sees in what you have already shared. It will never decide for you, and it will never talk you into a choice that is yours to make. AI also makes mistakes: the coach can be wrong, and anything it suggests deserves your own judgment before you act on it. The decisions you make, in the product and in your life, are yours.
Who can use it
You must be 18 or older. You must give us accurate information about yourself at signup, keep your password to yourself, and use your own account only. One person, one account, one honest map.
Your words stay yours
Everything you write, say, and make here belongs to you. You give us only the permission we need to run the service: to store your content, to show it back to you, and to send it to our AI provider so your coach can respond, all as described on the Privacy page. We claim nothing else. When you export your work, the export is yours without restriction. When you delete your account, our permission ends with it.
What is ours
The product itself is ours: the design, the words we wrote, the trail, the coaches and their voices, the software. You may not copy, scrape, resell, or build a competing dataset from the service, and you may not probe, overload, or attempt to break its security. If you find a security problem, we would genuinely like to hear from you at hello@compassandcanvas.io.
Honest use
Use the product as a person working on their own life. Do not use it to harass anyone, to generate harm, or to attempt to manipulate the coach into acting against its boundaries. Do not enter someone else's private information into your account without their knowledge. We can suspend or close accounts that abuse the service or the people behind it; if we ever do, you will still get your export, unless the law prevents it.
Paying, and stopping paying
The product is free while we build with our first members. When paid memberships arrive, the price and what it covers will be shown plainly before you pay, you will be able to cancel at any time without calling anyone, and stopping payment never deletes your work: your account becomes free and read-only, everything kept, as the Privacy page promises. No dark patterns, no cancellation mazes. Any future changes to pricing will apply going forward, never retroactively.
Endings
You can delete your account yourself at any time, from Settings, with a 30 day change-of-mind window, exactly as the Privacy page describes. If we ever close the product or it changes hands, the commitments on the Privacy page hold: real notice, working exports, and no transfer of your data outside the promises made to you.
The honest legal paragraph
We built this carefully, and we cannot promise perfection. The service is provided as it is, without warranties we cannot truthfully make: we do not guarantee uninterrupted availability, that the coach is always right, or that the product will produce any particular outcome in your life. To the extent the law allows, our liability to you is limited to what you have paid us in the twelve months before a claim. Nothing in these terms limits what the law does not allow us to limit.
Disagreements
If something goes wrong, write to hello@compassandcanvas.io first; a person answers, and most problems are fixable by two people acting in good faith. If something still cannot be resolved that way, these terms are governed by the laws of Wisconsin, United States, and any dispute belongs in the state or federal courts located there.
When these terms change
If we change these terms in a way that matters, we will email you before the change applies, and material changes will never rewrite the deal for what you have already done here. The Privacy page's short version and this page's short version are the commitments we treat as permanent.
